FONCEPT's Concept
FONCEPT is a community website blending T-shirt designing and arts on local culture together.
The name “FONCEPT” comes from the phrase "Form Follows Concept". It means that good designs are based on good concepts, and that concepts are the soul of designs.

We have had enough. T-shirt designs existing in the market are so monotonous, no matter how famous the brands are. Take a glance at any shopping mall and you'll only find T-shirts with plain and dull designs - they may be patterns repeating with no sense at all, or just an enlargement of the brand logo printed at the front and back of the clothes that cost you a lot. Instead of senseless designs, we believe that T-shirt designing is a form of art. It is a medium between artists and the public, or a presentation of inspiration. FONCEPT' s motto - "be brave. be different." , tells that every design needs to be backed up by courage, and it requires even more of a revolutionary concept. With this courage, plus the platform provided by FONCEPT, T-shirt will be more than clothing.
With its special historical background, it blends western and eastern cultures together and develops its own unique local culture. However, as HK society "makes progress" and values singularize, local culture is disappearing. Via the internet, we strive to preserve, record and reinterpret our local culture with artists by utilizing the internet and call for public' s attention and introspection on the culture precious to HK.
"What we do"
T-shirt design contest is the virgin project of FONCEPT. FONCEPT members can choose the designs they go for. The selected designs will then be put into production, and then be sold on FONCEPT Shop. A large portion of the profit we make from the sale will contribute to the reward for artists, encouraging them to innovate more. We believe that the soul of a T-shirt comes from its concepts, not the brand. Since the creation of concepts comes from interactions between artists and the public, FONCEPT encourages artists and the public to share and exchange their ideas through our website.
We also put our effort into promoting local culture by encouraging artists to produce related designs.
"Mission"
Through FONCEPT, we wish to:
- encourage creative designs about local culture, thereby drawing more attention to it.
- help artists establish their own brands and develop a stable source of income based on their creativity.
- introduce creativity to daily life, and from life we wish to generate creativity. Every single design on FONCEPT is an art piece. We choose not to follow the model of how world-class brands run their businesses. We sell T-shirts in a flat rate, and we NEVER LIMIT the quantity we sell on each design. We pursue lifestyle, instead of sales volume.
